Dominante (founded in 1975) is a student choir that has its home base in Otaniemi in Espoo, Finland. Our home is within the boundaries of the Helsinki University of Technology campus. Most of our over 60 members (page in Finnish) study technology, others study at Helsinki University or Sibelius academy. Our prestigious conductor is dir. mus. Seppo Murto.
Dominante has a remarkably multi-functional repertoire. It ranges from traditional to ultramodern choral music and includes also ballet music, musicals, children's music and of course drinking songs. You name it, we sing it. Recently Dominante has worked among others with The Finnish National Opera, The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonia, Tapiola Sinfonietta, The Lahti Symphony Orchestra and Gerome Jenkins, Roy Goodman, Helmut Rilling, Leif Segerstam, Tuomas Ollila, Osmo Vänskä and Ulf Söderblom.
Dominante travels a lot. We have been touring around the world in a yearly basis and for now have covered countries from all continents excluding the Antarctica. The most recent tour took us to South-Korea, Hong Kong and Macau in November 2009.
Small ensemble's culture in our choir is of very high standard. Many of our quartets and quintets
have won prizes in national contests. If you are interested in hiring a group of singers (2-60 persons) to almost any occasion (birthdays, business
events, weddings etc.) feel free to talk with our quartet manager Mr. Markku Rämö.
